Ow. Part the third
May. 15th, 2008 07:21 pmBut still for a good reason.
I rode my bike to work on Monday! and home!
When I got to work my legs were so wobbly I nearly couldn't make it up the stairs, and I felt like I was going to throw up. So this is why exercise makes you skinny - you feel too awful to eat. Didn't take me long to start feeling a lot better, though.
It did help that I got a ludicrous amount of encouragement from my co-workers. Not just the superannuated hippies who are much older than me and still cycle everywhere, but from those who would rather die than get out of their cars.
I haven't dared to try again. Although I've felt really well in the day (except for today, but I'm blaming the cold and wet weather) but fallen over as soon as I've got home. Which is not bad going for overdoing things - not that many years ago if I did anything my body construed as the slightest bit of over-exertion, such as, say, walking an extra block or working an extra half hour, I'd be unable to get out of bed for three days.
Also, Jason was working from home this week so I had access to the car. Which never happens, so I took advantage of that. Because if I don't want to get phobic and avoidant about driving again I need to keep doing it.
Yesterday I had a meeting at Southmead Hospital and parked the car on the street and nobody stole it[1]. Most disappointing.
[1] For non-locals, not the nicest part of Bristol.
