Amazon have just lowered their postage-free order limit to £5.

At first I thought it was very exciting.

Then I thought that they're shooting themselves in the foot a bit - how many times have you added an extra item so as to avoid paying postage?

Then I realised that as a vendor on Amazon this is bad news. Everything that I'm selling for enough to make more than 50p on, by the time my buyer adds postage, will probably be cheaper to buy the item direct rather than through a re-seller.

Not yet. I've only got two books up for sale at the moment, and I'm not likely to have and volume for a while, but next time I have a big clearout I think I'm going to have to look into that.

I'll still be buying from resellers when I can, most of the time they dispatch more quickly than Amazon on free delivery and I like to use them, especially the vendors I've used before and found to be good.
