Happy New Year!
Jan. 1st, 2009 09:15 pmI completely failed to leave the house last night, as I felt as though I was coming down with Jason's lurgy and fell asleep before 10. Apparently I even slept through fireworks. Or if they woke me up I don't remember. Either is kind of worrying. Today it's been weirdly episodic - fine for a couple of hours, feeling really sick for a while. I might feel better if it had made the slightest effort to get light yesterday or today.
My back's getting worse again, which means another expensive trip to the osteopath (what do people on actual low incomes do about back pain? Seriously. Because the only things that work aren't available on the NHS). It won't fix itself for good till I start doing some yoga or pilates or something to build up some core strength. I'm in no shape to start going to classes yet, so I'm going to order some DVDs from the library and see what works for me before buying. Recommendations appreciated.
Looks like 2009 is going to involve a lot less travel than 2008. That might be better for my physical health, but not so much for my sanity. Having no trips to plan might drive me over the edge. This is on account of my pound suddenly being worth very little in the Euro zone and the US. If I wanted to live in a country where my currency consistently made international travel difficult, I'd still be in Canada (or Australia or NZ), thank you very much.
I'd like to stop being a whiny pain in the butt who never does anything to rectify the things I'm unhappy about (weight, lack of social life and falling down house come to mind) but that hasn't happened so far and it's unlikely to happen now.
The fact that I don't have any specific goals, no matter how stupid or unrealistic, for the coming year is worrying, as it makes me feel like I've completely given up on life. I don't usually make NY resolutions but I usually have (at any time, but I tend to think about it more at this time of year) a set of goals to work towards.

Date: 2009-01-01 11:48 pm (UTC)I would have been better served just setting fire to the money.
Brian-the-sports-massage in Filton has had much better results and can cope with things other than making one's back go crunch.
