uncharacteristic win!
Mar. 1st, 2009 04:02 pmUsually my life is an exercise in ways only I could possibly mess things up, so just this once I'm sharing having done something halfway clever.
A couple weeks ago I purchased a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle. This may not have been wise; the biggest one I've ever done before was 3000 pieces, took forever and nearly drove me nuts. Since then 1500 has been the limit, but the only one the charity shop had with a picture I liked had 5000 pieces.[1] On read the dimensions it turns out that our dining room table isn't big enough[2]. Not a problem - I've been wanting to buy one of those felt mats that you can roll up when you're not working on the puzzle for years.
Except that none of those are big enough either. Except for one, which is only sold in the US and is stupidly expensive *before* the extortionate price of shipping is added. At current exchange rates. *whimper*
So I got two cheap ones from Amazon (free postage) and gaffer taped them together.
I haven't actually tried rolling it up yet, and it only barely fits in the living room, but it looks like I have a win!
[1]You don't think I can afford *new* jigsaw puzzles, do you?
[2] It would be if it was rectangular instead of oval.
