New rabbit

inulroLast evening I collected my new rabbit. Her name is Roxy and she's lovely - very big and black, but long and thin (as opposed to Florence who is short and stout). She has enormous ears (by bunny standards) that can't decide whether she's a lop or not, so she's got an amusing helicopter thing going on most of the time.
She seems to be very bright and has had a good explore of the dining room and the back garden. She's not allowed in the latter again until I remove the brambles at the back as they provide too many spaces where we can't get at her. Like most intelligent rabbits she is none too keen on being picked up, but she's already mastered getting in and out of her own cage, so that shouldn't be a problem (it's not at ground level).
We were told she's about a year old but I think she might be younger. Or it could be that she seems younger because it's been so long since we had a rabbit around here that wasn't quite elderly, and Florence has never been very active.
She eats *a lot* of hay. I may have to get a second job to keep up with it.
We are not 100% sure she is a female - her previous owners looked after her adequately but were pretty clueless about rabbits so probably listened to what the pet store told them, and I have no faith in pet stores' ability to sex animals. We think she probably is a girl, though, as she's very clever and has tons of energy. It doesn't matter, since she won't really be spending any time with Florence (who does not play well with others) and Florence is fixed anyway, so I'm going to wait till she trusts us more before we flip her over and check.
Pictures may be a while - she is black and loves to hide in dark places, and doesn't love being picked up.
