Had my first session at the gym today. As I suspected, I managed about 15 minutes of activity. Oh well, gotta start somewhere. I can already tell that I'm going to feel it tomorrow (I was already pretty stiff from yoga last night). Oh yeah, shoulders hurt already. And wrists. WTF?
On Thursday I'm going for their free personal trainer session. As it's a very cheap council-run gym I have limited expectations, but it is free. And it ensures I'll get my butt there on Thursday, more to the point.
If I can ever manage 15 minutes at a time on the cross trainer, the weight will start to disappear magically. In the meantime, Ow.
I need to get an armband for my iPhone - nobody who's ever been in a gym will be surprised to hear that the piped-in local radio sucks, and watching terrestrial TV on the monitors of the machines doesn't appeal either.
I also need a backpack with two separate compartments - one for gym stuff, the other for all the other crap I carry around all day (lunch, book, diary, wallet etc). Jason has an excellent one that is somewhat outside my price range.
On a related note, I had a breakthrough at work. I was absolutely livid about the latest piece of asshattery to go on at work but I managed to stay away from the biscuit supply. It probably would have been better for everyone I work with if I'd given in, though.
