I should have lots of time to read on our summer holiday, between two long-ass flights and the fact that there's not a lot to do at night in Wyoming. (Plus, our cabin in Yellowstone has a front porch perfect for hanging out & reading in the evenings).

I'm going to get the last two Millennium novels before we go as we both want to read them.

The sensible thing to do would be to bulk these out with some of the novels I bought at WH Smith in January.

However, I'm strongly tempted to buy a bunch more Ken Mcleod books and make my way through those instead. And today Amazon emailed me to let me know about some deals they have on Cory Doctorow's stuff.

Opinions?

We have the second two Millenium novels if you want to borrow them?

I tend to avoid taking other people's books on epic holidays. You know, just in case I have a swimming-pool related accident. (I think beach accidents are not on the cards this time)

Cory is a jolly good chap, but for one reason or another, I tend to fail to get on with his work. Whereas Ken can do no wrong (though Engines of Light was a bit wobbly).

Which Mcleods don't you have?

All of them except Engines of Light and The Night Sessions. I'm going to buy them all sooner or later because I think Ken is awesome and deserves my money.

Newton's Wake sort-of wanders on in the same universe as, um, The Execution Channel. The Fall Revolution set are A-1 post-cyber pre-Stross and the complete antithesis of any Heinlein-influenced US Mil-SF you may have come across. (Im that depending on which of the endings you like best, the commies, the anarcho-syndicalists or the Greens win.)

... I'll sit down and shut up. Yes, that would be best.

I haven't read The Execution Channel yet. The St George library has it but I keep not taking it out because I intend to buy it. This is probably foolish.

Definitely get Doctrow's "For The Win". It's great.
