Convergence voting
Sep. 25th, 2003 08:52 pmGranted, I was going to vote for Chicago anyway, but I got rather excited when I had a look at the tourist attractions:
Inline skate rental and 18 miles of lakeshore paths!
Funeral Parlour mini golf (and I am the worst minigolf player in the world),
but the winner is....the International Museum of Surgical Science!!!!
I'm so there.
The Lawrence bid is actually a very good bid and would be a very good event, but - um. Location. Kansas strikes me as the American version of where I grew up, or worse - Alberta. Because of the overseas travel aspect, for me Convergence has to be in a place that has things I want to do other than Convergence, or near something else that I want to see, and/or within reasonable driving distance of Toronto. Chicago offers both of these, Lawrence neither. Let me tell you about how I can live without seeing that much open prairie ever again.
(I did learn the lesson with Montreal to do tourist stuff a few days before or after rather than at the same time)
