We had a long talk about purchasing a new TV last night, but you'll all be pleased to hear we eventually came to our senses. When smoke is coming out of the back of this one , I will go drop £50 on another crap old one.

I'm not sure when or how we got jointly kidnapped by the Spirits of Good Consumerism. But we're over it now.

[1] yes Mel, it's still going. It loses hold on the colour occasionally and allegedly still makes that noise, but I ceased to hear the noise years ago (Since the incident with the burglar alarm I have chronic tinnitus anyway, so I really don't notice).

Heh...shame you're not on this side of the Atlantic. I have a 19" TV that's actually just fine, that I'm looking to sell (for far less). I've decided that 1) I don't like having more than one TV in the house, and 2) I'd rather have a bit of cash than what essentially serves me as a gigantic paperweight.
