The DVD arrived on Wednesday but I didn't have time to watch it till friday evening. I don't normally buy DVDs because there are very few films I can watch more than once, but having completely failed to get to the cinema to see it, and having heard the rest of the world (including everyone I trust) rave about it for the last X months, I decided to splash out.
I loved it even more than I expected. I hadn't realized that Johnny Depp played the part for laughs; and that made it so much better - there was exactly the right mix of comedy and action. Everything looked great!
I will definitely be watching it again.
Which leads on to ....
Exile
Watching Pirates inspired me to get out all my old pirate goth outfits. I used to wear these all the time but stopped when I ceased to be stick-thin - jeans just don't fit in the same way any more. The good news is I can still get my jeans on. The other good news is I can still get my pirate boots on. The bad news is that the pirate boots no longer fit over the jeans. Oh well. I own approximately 4 white pirate shirts and there was something wrong with every one of them (none of it irreparable, they were just in a state that I couldn't wear them last night), but I dug out my black pirate shirt. Never did have a pirate hat, something I need to rectify.
It's been ages since I've actually been bothered about what I wore to go out. It was kind of nice, but I don't have the energy to put into this regularly.
Nor did I really have the energy to go out, but it's been that long since I left the house that I dragged myself out. As usual, I was fine once I got there. I had a totally fabulous time and danced waay too much as usual. Everything hurts today but I don't care - it was worth it to actually get out, see people, hear music I don't own and bounce around like a maniac.
I just wish Exile happened more often. And that I was able to travel to other clubs, of course.

Date: 2003-12-08 07:45 am (UTC)I'm glad you had fun, despite it being a bit on the quiet side (by Exile standards, at least).
We do have a few planned for 2004 - next one is April 3rd.
