Christmas stuff
Dec. 26th, 2003 06:21 pmHad a really good one. This is what happens when you take family and religion out of the equation. Didn't even eat that much too much (if you see what I mean). Didn't get a lot (have a small family and don't exchange gifts with friends) but what I did get was really good - even the Christmas place mats my very elderly grandparents sent were tasteful enough for actual use.
Between the plane tickets to Portugal (not xmas related, bad timing) and Jason's present (Buffy Season 2 on DVD, at full price (!) because I only got around to it on Monday), I'm seriously skint. So much for being self-righteous about not bankrupting oneself at Christmas. For the first time in several years, I have no money with which to hit the sales, which is slightly depressing. I am trying to make an effort to cut down on Buying Stuff, so that we can concentrate on travelling a lot this year, but there's a few things I could do with having, and they do cost less at this time of year.
Watched a very silly Ninja movie and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Introduced guests to the goodness that is Invader Zim. I hadn't seen the Christmas episode before either - Santa's jolly boots of Doom were too funny.
This is the first time I've been able to get to the computer in a couple days - there's been people staying in my computer room.
The bad news is, I had no sleep on Christmas Eve because at midnight the fireworks started going off for several hours, along with kids driving around on their scooters screaming merry christmas at the top of their lungs. I don't recall that being a local Christmas custom in previous years, but I could be repressing. Today I'm seriously feeling like shit, even after extended nap time (during which several fireworks went off and it wasn't even dark yet!) so did not go buy flooring today. Despite having had best Christmas in years, I'm depressed today. This is entirely a biological function of not enough sleep and having confused my body clock, but it's still not pleasant.
