Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] aoakley and [livejournal.com profile] melissa_jade for a wonderful party last night.

As a result of too much rum & coke and vodka jelly, I found myself just a little bit tipsy. Or a lot. Apologies for anything stupid I did. (Nothing seemed particularly stupid to me, but, well, that's me).

I did discover that there are people who like Peter O'Toole in general and My Favourite Year in particular almost as much as I do. That was a revelation! And was reminded that there are other women who don't relate to Girls (TM) - which I do know, but working in a traditionally-female environment and not getting out much, one tends to forget.

I am, of course, paying for having had a good time today, but that was to be expected. And even more self inflicted because I couldn't be bothered to drink 2 pints of water when I got home.

My visit to the optician was quite constructive. My prescription has only changed a little, but only in one eye, and that's what's been throwing me off balance. She found the source of irritation/infection and recommended a cheap over the coutner treatment. All the more scary phenomena are, as I suspected, the consequence of my prism (one eye drags) whilst tired. So there's a simple, rational explanation for everythign that's been wrong, and I'm not a raving hypochondriac. So there.

I found enough time on Friday to nip into a few shops on Park Street, which cheered me up. The Boot Room have a fine selection of Buffalo trainers (I do need new trainers). BS8 have the Roman Dirge t-shirts, I'm so Spooky I pee darkness, and I love humans with cheese. But at £24.99, even in my newly affluent state I can't afford them. They also have many cute stripey arm warmers, which may be harder to resist in the long run.

I really have to stop spending money though.

Peter O'Toole does a wonderful monologue as a drunk, and correct me if I'm wrong but he was also one half of the pair in Sleuth, the other half being.... Michael Caine? It's been too long since I saw it.

So, how do women who don't get on in female environments... get on. Well I know what I mean. And I know the answer, come to think of it.

The short answer is, when the alternative is unemployment and starvation, you find ways.

I think what I meant was... how do women who don't get on in female environments meet and get on with other women who don't get on in female environments. But my brain is all over the place at the moment. Sorry.
