Went out for beer with zenmonkeykstop (sorry, I can't remember how to do LJ user links) last night. He's one of two people who've been around upg as long as I have that I've never met. The other lives in my killfile. No comment on the irony of finally meeting up with him in TO rather than England or Ireland.

The Toronto smoking ban kicked in on the 1st of June. I completely failed to notice the smoke-free atmosphere in the bar last night. It didn't appear to have any effect on the numbers in the bar.

This does, however, mean that sitting on the patio is no longer the desired thing to do if you don't smoke.

I have come to the conclusion that you all will get a proper update when we get home and I have a keyboard I can actually type with.

It's been moving that way for the last couple of years as bars have had to restrict the size of the smoking area inside.
