inulroI have just taken delivery of The Hamster That Will Not Die from a work colleague who is getting kittens tomorrow. Said hamster has been living free range in her utility room, so not a good combination. Given my track record with dwarf hamsters I'm not convinced I'm the best person to have him, but I didn't think he'd do very well at the shelter either.
He's a Chinese Dwarf hamster, which is very rare (never having met him before, I always assumed he was a Russian Dwarf). Chinese Dwarfs are long and thin, so allegedly he can fit through the bars of the cage (which is how he ended up living free range). He's four years old! This is about 250 in people years.
So far he's in a small cage on my desk and exploring his new environment quite slowly. I think I'll go to the shelter tomorrow and borrow a glass or plastic tank, along with a wheel. Even though he's in my old dwarf hamster cage, his tiny little head looks like it could fit through the bars, and I don't really have anywhere I can safely keep him free range. I thought about the bathroom, but he'd get stepped on in the night.
In other news, my latest Project order came today, so I have the second Audra album at last. Haven't had time to listen to it yet.
