Work have said I can almost certainly have the time off, but I've got to sort it out soon.

I'm inclining towards Paris on Eurostar because I tend these days to feel really lousy after flying. And phobias aside, it's something I haven't done before. Depending on train fares within France, I might even go somewhere else from Paris, as trains in France are very fast & efficient.

Yes, work. It's OK, I guess, but so far is not filling my day, and I suspect surfing the net would be frowned upon (my policy is always to make myself indispensible, then start doing stuff like that). How can doing nothing be more exhausting than being busy?

All webmail is absolutely firewalled at the new workplace, so there would be no point in my taking up anyone on a gmail invite offer. I also suspect I'll never be able to access LJ at work (no change there).

It's in a much nicer part of town, about a 2 minute walk from St. Nicholas Market. For the first time in years I had time to wander around the market yesterday. I didn't know the used book place was so good. It's full of stuff I want to spend my money on. Which in some ways makes a welcome change, but on the practicalities front isn't so good.

Went to Waterstones today to purchase a copy of "The Curious Incident..." and came out with that book only, despite it having a 3 for 2 sticker. Which may not sound like much of an achievement, but for someone with my compulsive book-buying habit combined with the Search for Bargains (TM) radar, it's a pretty big deal.

I'm utterly exhaused. Am unclear about whether that's the shock of working full time again, or just because I'm not yet settled into a routine.

I didn't realise how rubbish "Beware of the Leopard" (the bookshop) was, until I worked in Bath. Even the charity shops in Bath have better stock and turn it over faster.

Well, compared to charity shops around here, it's pretty good.

This could be because I haven't been into a *good* second hand book shop (except on holiday) in years!

I meant to post previously that I vote for the Eurostar. From city centre to city centre it is tough to beat. Restrictive corporate firewalls suck rocks. Although mine has not yet learned to block gmail.
