I got off the bus this morning & found a £20 note on the pavement!

This meant I could afford to get a new battery put in my watch, which stopped on Saturday! Except that it wasn't the battery this time. My watch needs to be sent away for service, which will cost £45, needs at least 50% up front, and will take 2-6 weeks. I need to check my bank account to make sure I can afford this before payday. I thought I'd have to buy a crap & nasty one to tide me over (I am Ms. Obsessive when it comes to time & there's no way I could go without for that long), but it turns out Jason has some extras, so I can borrow one. Yeah, I know I could buy a new one for less, but this one was a graduation present in 1990 & was quite expensive and is really nice, so is probably worth repairing. It just had to happen when I'm broke.

Then came home to discover that Sneezey is an ex-guinea pig. He looked a little unwell at the weekend, but very elderly guinea pigs (he was 5 1/2, which is quite old) tend to look unwell & not do much for some time, so I wasn't expecting him to go quite so soon. I'm going to miss the little waste disposal unit, but I suppose it's much better than him hanging on being miserable for longer.

how's this for a belated reply?

Yes, we're now pigless, but when Pip died we put Sneezey in with one of the rabbits rather than get another pig because we're trying to reduce the number of pets we have. Honest.
