I've never taken much of an interest in the CD stall in St Nick's Market. As it turns out, this has probably been good for my budget. I thought it only sold used CDs, but there's new ones as well. The most expensive of which, for current chart albums like Franz Ferdinand, are £12. I just bought three of the Echo & the Bunnymen 25th anniversary edition albums for £8 each (new) and an (also new) Death in Vegas album for £9. Used stuff is quite ridiculously cheap. Selection is better than you might think for somewhere so tiny.

So how the hell do HMV & Virgin get away with charging up to £15 per album?

You may have been in the UK too long.
My question would be: $20 for a CD, WTF expensive?
