The Ramones documentary, End of the Century does not appear to be playing anywhere near Bristol. It probably doesn't help that both The Watershed and the Arnolfini are closed or nearly closed for renovation at the moment. Neither Cube nor mainstream cinemas have picked it up.

According to the Guardian's site, the closest places it's playing are Birmingham or London. If anyone knows otherwise, I'd appreciate hearing.

Crap.

I'm not going all that way just to see a movie, even this one. I really don't want to wait for the DVD either.

Oh the irony. If you check out the link above, you will note that it's even doing a brief stint in the complete backwater I grew up in. For those of you who don't know, try to guess.

Regina Public Library? Who'd have thunk it?

Not to rub it in, I saw it when it first came to TO, back before Christmas. It's an excellent documentary.

The RPL have always put on good films, from the alternative to cheap second-runs of mainstream films (important when you're a broke teenager). We went a lot as a family, but my parents went more often to see European stuff my brother & I weren't old enough to watch. The classic horror movie season was at the Natural History Museum though.

The RPL is (or at least was) an outstanding public library and I owe surviving childhood and adolesence largely to that institution. Thus my commitment to the role of public libraries.
