59. Beowulf translated by Seamus Heaney

Goodness, but there's not much to it in translation. It helps that Heaney's translation is really easy to read.

I remembered more of it than I thought, and see where it accords and disagrees with the archaeology (which I'm reading about elsewhere at the moment), and where it has been used to fill in for the lack of historical evidence for Migration and Viking Age Scandinavia.

Oh, and it's a damn good adventure story.
