Boxing Day!
Dec. 26th, 2006 07:36 pmSlept till noon again today, but that could be because I was up too late last night reading The Lazarus Bell. I picked up the first book in the series A Carol for the Dead when we were last in Ireland and liked it very much.
The mystery and archaeology behind Carol for the Dead were creepier and more interesting, but The Lazarus Bell is a tighter, better written book. (I may have been being stupid, but some of the loose ends in Carol for the Dead didn't tie up satisfactorily). I highly recommend both books (they don't take any time at all to read), and hope there are more to come in the series.
Today has been less of a write-off than every other day for the past two weeks. We attempted to work off some of yesterday's dinner by taking a walk in the country, but I didn't get far. Not surprising, considering that I've been finding it a challenge to get to the shop and post box at the end of the road lately.
We attacked the disaster area that is our kitchen and it looks much better now. I'm all for keeping as much stuff as you like and saying boo! to minimalism, but that doesn't work when you have a small kitchen. We've acquired some new kitchen stuff lately, and room had to be made. We have consolidated and tidied the tea mountain and it is consequently less scary. I really have to stop buying every new flavour of tea I come across till we make some room, but that fits in handily with the unemployment scenario.
We forgot the Christmas pudding yesterday, so had some today. I can't move.
