As I can no longer afford my yoga classes, I decided to check out the options at my gym as that's already paid for. I went to my first Pilates class on Saturday morning. At the time it seemed much less intense than yoga, but three hours later I was in crippling amounts of pain and had to go lie down. As I've been doing yoga in the evenings, it's hard to make a comparison.
First, the good news - I've been doing far more exercise than I ever would have thought was possible. I'm up to 45 minutes at the gym on a good day, and that's on top of walking to work 2 days a week (I am also too poor for bus fares). It may sound pathetic to most of you, but I really did expect I'd still be struggling to do more than 20 minutes at this point. I've been quite disabled with my illness & thus pretty inactive for the better part of 15 years, after all.
Then, the bad news - I still haven't lost any weight, and my clothes still don't fit. I can only cut down on my intake so much when I'm on meds that turn me into a Hungry Hippo. Plus, I hate being hungry and don't see the point in starving myself & making myself miserable (as it is, I can't remember the last time I had a muffin, or any other of the baked goods that make life worth living).
