The sofa arrived yesterday. It is fabulous. I didn't update because I was too busy sitting in it. I have developed the urge to get a laptop (not the income, though). Coincidentally, the bill for the sofa came yesterday too. That's slightly less happy news, though I'm glad to have finally paid for it rather than knowing there's a big bill going to turn up at some unspecified point in the future.
There's only one flaw in my "I have the complete series 1-6 West Wing box set on DVD and a brand new sofa - I may be some time" plan: Among the things I had to give back to their rightful owner at the weekend was the DVD player. We still have the DVD player in my computer, thus when the DVD player's owners said they wanted it back, we hadn't prioritised getting a new one. It's just not the same when you have a new sofa though.
Having said that, we just watched Casanova, and it was well worth leaving the sofa for. The best thing about it was the fabulous baroque soundtrack. I used to listen to a lot of baroque music. Hell, I used to play a lot of baroque music (a lot of lute pieces have been transcribed for classical guitar with some alternate tunings). It's definitely something I should do more of.
