I know some of you are film fans, so might be able to help me.

As I've mentioned, I have two and a half months to learn some Spanish. I thought it would be a good idea to add some films to Spanish to my screenselect account. So far I've added The Devil's Backbone, Cronos (not currently available), Maria Full of Grace, and Like Water for Chocolate. Spanish-language movies I've seen recently include the original of Vanilla Sky, Bad Education and The Motorcycle Diaires.

Any more recommendations? Latin American suggestions are particularly welcome.

Cable TV in Toronto had CNN en Espanol, but there's no spanish language station here, which sucks, as kids shows would probably be the way forward.

Good Lord. I didn't know anyone else had been to see that. (Apart from [livejournal.com profile] jarkman)

Haven't seen it for at least 10 years, admittedly, but I currently have [livejournal.com profile] drpete's VHS copy on my "to watch" pile. But IIRC think I preferred Day of the Beast, by the same guy.

Me either. That was a time when maintaining my cultural life meant abandoning the Stella-fired houseshare in Middle-of-nowhere, Glos, and driving to Chapter in Cardiff at least once a month to view whatever mad bloody film they'd put on. (Well, driving as far as Pontypool and then blagging a lift w/[livejournal.com profile] jarkman in fact.)
