So. Walking an hour a day up and down hills - not such a good idea. I suspect bike was an equally lovely idea that won't work so well in practice (especially given how much my legs hurt today - it can take weeks for me to recover). So FirstBus eating up my meager earnings it'll have to be. Bugger.

The extent of my credit card bill really has scared me. That's what neither earning nor curbing spending for three months will get you. There's got to be some serious economising around here, and I really do need to start trying to sell that mountain of stuff. I suspect I'm also going to have to try to sell some stuff I'm not keen to get rid of - I'll just bang a bunch of it up on niceboots/ebay/amazon and see what gets taken.

This is where the fact that I don't buy random crap and use everything I own till it's completely worn out bites me in the arse. I don't think I've got anything that anyone will pay more than 50p for. :-(

J was going to offer you use of his old bicycle if you wanted it. If still interested, let him know.

And, selling suggestions: gothy stuff on niceboots, non-gothy stuff on thriftstoreuk (I've had loads of sales of odd stuff there), CDs, books and DVDs on Amazon Marketplace, then Ebay as last resort or for items that don't fit in the other places. If I can be of any help, please feel free to ask!

Thanks! I'm actually still interested in having a bike and would be really grateful for that - it's just probably not the solution to saving on bus fare immediately.

It's a grim shed of a thing, apart from the new bits supplied by quercus and the purple drag-queen brake levers. Even thieves won't take it.

Probably your best option for a bike is the one I have lurking here - ex-aeia, who I believe no longer wants it (If you do, it's still yours!).

Thievery left it with a missing seatpost (pervs!) an inconsequential dent in a frame tube and a wobbly wheel that I still haven't trued up straight again. It probably needs a trivial tyre / tube / light / seatpost buying for it and an evening's fettlework.
