I've been struggling all week, and now I'm stuck at home with another virus. I'm already in the shit at work for being sick too much, but there's nothing I can do about it. They can't fire me for it, but they can it that I spend more time justifying my existence than I do working so I just get fed up and leave.

On the plus side, my parents just sent me season 1 of Grey's Anatomy, and there's no better pretty people and chewing gum for the brain than that.

So. Walking an hour a day up and down hills - not such a good idea. I suspect bike was an equally lovely idea that won't work so well in practice (especially given how much my legs hurt today - it can take weeks for me to recover). So FirstBus eating up my meager earnings it'll have to be. Bugger.

The extent of my credit card bill really has scared me. That's what neither earning nor curbing spending for three months will get you. There's got to be some serious economising around here, and I really do need to start trying to sell that mountain of stuff. I suspect I'm also going to have to try to sell some stuff I'm not keen to get rid of - I'll just bang a bunch of it up on niceboots/ebay/amazon and see what gets taken.

This is where the fact that I don't buy random crap and use everything I own till it's completely worn out bites me in the arse. I don't think I've got anything that anyone will pay more than 50p for. :-(

This is the first time I've really felt like I've been hit by a truck the day after a massage.

Not entirely surprising; I'd got my back into a real mess again. The lesson here is probably that I should go for a massage every four to six weeks whether I feel like I need it or not.

It has been an interesting week. I didn't know it was possible to be this exhausted and still function. By Tuesday it was obvious I wasn't going to make it to the end of the week, so I have started my holiday today. I meant to do all sorts of constructive things, which has turned into one load of laundry.

I was feeling poo anyway, and as I was taking the laundry out of the washing machine, I heard the unmistakable sound of something dripping in the bathroom. Our roof has sprung a leak. It's a very slow leak, & trickling down a wall so I can't put a bowl out to catch the water. Interestingly, after I called Jason, called the insurance people & then got Jason to call the insurance people (my name isn't on the policy. Or, wasn't. It is now. Kind of dumb since I'm home more often), it seems to have stopped leaking, even though it has been raining even harder at times. Which leads me to wonder how long this has been going on. It's right next to the shower, so any excess water I might have stepped in would have been blamed on us dripping after we get out of the shower.

I've been out to have a look at the roof & I can't see anything wrong. It's unlikely we can get it fixed before we go away, but it's supposed to be cold & dry while we're away, plus it's on the extension rather than the main part of the house, and the bathroom is mainly tiled anyway, so it shouldn't sustain too much damage in a week.

I can't sleep, and I'm not wide enough awake to do anything else. Most annoying.
