(apologies to anyone who's seen this on Pure as well)
It's like this:

I'm not really going to be well enough by Saturday to make it to Dresden Dolls, but seeing as I missed them last time and have spent money I now cannot afford on the tickets, we ARE going. I'm not going to be well enough to deal with the coach, so am looking to dump the car somewhere in West London, take the tube to the venue & drive back to Bristol immediately after the gig.

I've done this before, but it was evening when I parked the car. This is an early gig so I'll need to be parking between 5 and 6 pm, which may make things more difficult.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to leave the car that's not too far from the end of the M4 and a Tube station (last time I think I ended up in Kensington). Again, I'm willing to pay - is there a multi-storey somewhere that's easy to find? Anything so sensible as a park & ride scheme?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jodi

(Referred by [livejournal.com profile] diffrentcolours, not sure whether this will help as I don't know how far it is from the M4)

Every time I go into London on the M/A40, I leave the car at the leisure park (cinemas, Pizza Hut etc) next to Park Royal tube station. It has the advantage of being free, and reasonably well lit/busy, although if I had a car that was more likely to attract thieves of any kind I might feel a little less confident about leaving it there.

Many thanks! That's the sort of thing I had in mind - I know there's a Sainsburys that the coach goes past, but I can't remember if it has a car park. I'll get out the A to Z and see if that's too far out of my way.

That's the one I was thinking of! I don't mind paying.

No problem. :-) Hope it's useful.

It's at the Scala, pretty straightforward to get to... why not just drive all the way in? You could take the M4/A312/A40, which would eventually take you right past the venue (though leave plenty of time as it can be fairly busy between Marylebone and King's Cross). You should be able to park somewhere near the venue - I'd try the side streets up towards Angel. I'd have thought parking around there would be unrestricted after about 5.30pm or so on a Saturday.

You'd be welcome to leave your car at my place (we have a private car park), but it's probably more difficult to drive here than to the Scala!

We drove past the Scala last week on the way to D&B. I don't fancy trying to find a place to park around there, & Jason's not too enthused about trying to drive in London on a Saturday after what happened to us the day after D&B...

Yep, you should be able to park in the area at that time. I've parked round that area for B Movie. Theres a few side streets off Greys Inn Road that should be OK after 6pm. Failing that as Dave said around Islington.

I didn't see many places to park in Islington when we got sligtly misplaced there the other week.
