Police want new powers to deal with aftermath of terror attack

It's the "banning demonstrations and travel" that's more than just a bit worrying.

Canadians - is any of this happening in Canada? I can't see any evidence in the Globe & Mail. Is Canada on high terrorist alert? I'm still kinda unclear whether it's the whole Western world or just Britain & the US.

Candians don't have congrescritters - we also have MPs. I haven't lived there in so long I don't even know which constituency I should write to - the place I grew up (party in charge - Rednecks R Us), the place I went to university (oh dear god, no), the part of Toronto I actually lived in or the part of Toronto I aspire to move to. (or indeed the part of Toronto I'm more likely to end up in).
